DISEC
Responding to Major Attacks on Energy Infrastructure
Promoting Cybersecurity and Defence for Energy Infrastructure
ABOUT THIS COMMITTEE
Ever since our outward expansion, humanity has required larger and larger power sources to fuel our infrastructure: think oil pipelines, energy grids, dams, etc. While these structures have been key for nations’ development, they are also seen as weak links. A single attack on any one of these energy grids can result in a hospital, a bank, or even entire cities going out of commission. The problem has only been getting worse: physical sabotage has now evolved into cyberattacks, with unseen perpetrators and unabated risk. Delegates will debate responses to both types of attacks, working together to mitigate damage.
Can this DISEC committee set new global standards to preserve our homes? Or will our sovereign states enter a new dark age?
