WHO WE ARE
RUTGERS UNIVERSITY ASSOCIATION OF INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS
RUAIR is home to Rutgers University’s only travel Model United Nations team and hosts the #1 collegiate Model United Nations Conference in New Jersey. Through competitive conferences, simulations of international conflicts, and public speaking training, we provide students with opportunities to develop their leadership, research, and communication skills.
Members of our Travel Team compete in conferences across North America, collaborating with students from other universities to draft resolutions addressing global issues. Delegates refine their public speaking skills through formal speeches and debate while competing in simulations that range from modern conflicts like the Sri Lankan Civil War to historical scenarios such as the Trojan War. Tryouts are held at the start of each school year for spots on our Travel Team, and accepted members can expect approximately three hours of practice per week. RUAIR covers all expenses for traveling to conferences and does not require students to pay for hotel or transportation fees.
Each Fall, we also host our own collegiate Model United Nations Conference, RISC. College students from around the world compete in simulations of international issues that our team carefully constructs over the course of half a year. Those interested in staffing or chairing at RISC can apply through the “Join Us” section of our website.
RUAIR welcomes students of all experience levels to try out for our Travel Team, attend our weekly practices, and participate in RISC. We strive to offer an environment where all students can grow as speakers, researchers, negotiators, and leaders as part of this community. We look forward to seeing you in September!
